The Purpose Of God's Yoke
A farmer hooks up a mature ox with a younger one to train it to walk a straight line to the other side of the field. If the younger one tries to veer off to the side it is held fast. The older one sets the pace and does most of the pulling while the younger one just follows and learns. If the younger one tries to lead or stop it is quickly corrected.
Jesus said that His yoke is easy and His burden light.
The reason that His yoke is easy is because He, like the mature ox, does most of the pulling and leads us in decision making. Our job is to follow His lead and learn what He is teaching. Isaiah said, “all we like sheep have gone astray.” Our fallen nature wants to do it’s own thing, thinking that it doesn’t need any help. That’s when being yoked to Jesus becomes necessary. It’s a constant reminder that without Him we can do nothing.
Being yoked to Jesus is a constant reminder that without Him we can do nothing.

4 Signs You Are Yoked With Jesus
The person who chooses to take His yoke upon themselves discovers a less stressful life.
- Decisions are made with the help of the Holy Spirit and Scripture
- Fear of failure is removed
- Burdens are lifted
- His path takes us directly to the goal
Jesus’ goal is to draw us closer to the Father without us trying to do our own thing.
So, will you take his yoke and learn from him? For anyone who does will find him to be gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest.
